Epilogue – based on the script by “Beyond Justice,” a William Blinn & Michael Gleason

(The SUFFRAGETTES, SLIM SHERMAN, DAISY COOPER, and MIKE WILLIAMS are at the Laramie stage depot. The suffregettes’ luggage is being quickly loaded on the stagecoach by the STAGECOACH SHOTGUN & DRIVER, and MORT CORY. A small crowd of TOWNSPEOPLE watch.)

LEORA SCOFIELD: Hurry up there. girls. Take it easy with that luggage, men.

DAISY COOPER: Ah, Leora. Do you have ta go so soon?

LEORA SCOFIELD: Our work is finished here, Daisy. From now on Collier and Emory will be making all their speeches in prison.

DAISY COOPER: Do you really think you can have Phyllis paroled in your custody?

LEORA SCOFIELD: Thanks to Mr. Sherman and the sheriff, I think I can. She’ll make a fine sufferagette.

SLIM SHERMAN: She’ll have a mighty good teacher, Mrs. Schofield.

LEORA SCOFIELD: Don’t you try to soft talk me now, young man. But I do want to thank you and Sheriff Cory for all your cooperation and for that most important confidential information. (Firmly shakes SLIM SHERMAN’s hand. Walks over to MORT CORY.) Thanks, Sheriff. (Hugs and kisses DAISY COOPER.) Bye, Daisy. Don’t give up the good fight.

MORT CORY: (MORT CORY helps LEORA SCOFIELD into the stagecoach and shuts the door firmly.) Alright, take it away.

STAGECOACH DRIVER: Hey! Get up there!

(The coach leaves with arms waving from every window. SLIM SHERMAN, DAISY COOPER, MIKE WILLIAMS and MORT CORY wave goodbye. DAISY COOPER and MIKE WILLIAMS are smiling. MORT CORY and SLIM SHERMAN are not.)

DAISY COOPER: What did Lenora mean about that important confidential information?

(MORT CORY and SLIM SHERMAN look at each other.)

DAISY COOPER: Why’s she in such a hurry to get to Cheyenne?

SLIM SHERMAN: Gosh, Daisy I’m not sure. Musta had somethin’ to do with the Collier case.

MIKE WILLIAMS: Oh no it doesn’t, Slim.

(SLIM SHERMAN signals MIKE WILLIAMS to stop talking from behind DAISY COOPER’s back.)

MIKE WILLIAMS: Don’t ya remember?

DAISY COOPER: What’s this about, Mike?

MIKE WILLIAMS: I know what she meant, Aunt Daisy. I heard Slim and Sheriff Cory tellin’ her about all the trouble they’re havin’ over in Cheyenne.

(SLIM SHERMAN and MORT CORY sneak off into the alley and then take off at a dead run.)

MIKE WILLIAMS: They said the whole town needed cleaning up.

DAISY COOPER: (Looks back to question Slim and Mort and then looks down the now empty alley. She turns back to MIKE WILLIAMS, smiling.) You know something, Mike. If Leora comes back through here, I may just join up. (DAISY COOPER walks away.)

(MIKE WILLIAMS looks down the alley for SLIM SHERMAN and then after the disappearing DAISY COOPER.)
