Yield: Approximately 1 cup broth

 

 

Ingredients:

 

1 1/2 cups cold water

 

1 cup jerky pieces

 

 

Steps:

 

  1. Place jerky in cold water in a saucepan.
  2. Bring water to a boil.  Boil for 5 minutes
  3. Remove saucepan from heat source.
  4. Cover saucepan and allow to stand for 30 minutes.
  5. Strain broth into a cup.
  6. Reserve jerky or discard.
  7. If desired, warm broth and serve.
  8. Reserved jerky can be eaten or added to a dish (example: creamed beef on toast). Rehydrated jerky should be added to another dish immediately and eaten.  Do not place in icebox for future consumption.
