Epilogue – based on the teleplay “Man From Kansas” by Paul Savage and story by Dan Ullman

(SLIM SHERMAN is sitting in the front room of the Sherman ranch house reading Robin Hood. JESS HARPER is behind him, getting ready to go to town.)

SLIM SHERMAN: You forgot to do the dishes.

JESS HARPER: No, I didn’t forget. I figured maybe you’d do ’em.

SLIM SHERMAN: Oh, I would Jess, but you know I’m still a little shakey. You know what the doc said. He said, “Don’t overdo it.”

JESS HARPER: Yeah. You sure been taking his advice, if I do say so.

SLIM SHERMAN: What do you think about the Willoughby’s offering to pay Simpson back the three hundred dollars?

JESS HARPER: Ah, right neighborly. Even more so, Mr. Simpson didn’t take it… (Walks to the front door) Well, don’t wait up for me.

SLIM SHERMAN: Hey! What are you doing all polished up?

JESS HARPER: There’s a big dance in town tonight. Don’t you worry buddy, you take it easy. I’ll do the dishes when I get back.

SLIM SHERMAN: Wait a minute! How come you didn’t tell me about the dance?

JESS HARPER: Well there’s no point in it, I mean you being so weak and shakey and all. Strenuous thing like dancing might kill you.

SLIM SHERMAN: You wait here.

JESS HARPER: Hey, who’s going to do the dishes?

SLIM SHERMAN: All right, I’ll do ’em when we get back. (Walks into his bedroom and begins to dress.)

JESS HARPER: (Smothering laughter.)
