Epilogue – based on the script “Men of Defiance” by John C. Champion

(JESS HARPER rides slowly into the Sherman ranch yard. ANDY SHERMAN is getting a bucket of water out of the horse trough. He drops the bucket and runs towards the ranch house.)

ANDY SHERMAN: Hey! Jonesy! Slim! Look whose comin’ in. It’s Jess.

JONESY: Yeah, he looks mighty tired, too. Maybe he’ll be happy to stick around home for a while.

ANDY SHERMAN: Hey, he’s got his arm in a sling.

JONESY: Why… he has at that.

SLIM SHERMAN: He’ll get more than his arm in a sling if he goes trailin’ off like that again.

JONESY: Work sure did stack up around here while he was gone. Couldn’t see over the top of it from one day to the next.

SLIM SHERMAN: Yeah, he sure slickered out of ’em alright. You know I never have met a man that could beat him when it comes to dodgin’ work.

JONESY: You haven’t done so bad yourself. Remember, it was Andy and me that did most of the work around here.

ANDY SHERMAN: Yeah.

JONESY: Or maybe you’ve forgotten about lying in bed with a sore foot practically all the time that Jess was gone.

ANDY SHERMAN:  (Runs towards JESS HARPER)

SLIM SHERMAN: Yeah, but you’re not goin’ to tell him are you, Jonesy? Otherwise, I’d have nothin’ to complain about at all.

(SLIM SHERMAN tips JONESY’s hat and walks towards JESS HARPER.)

JONESY: Hi, Jess.
