Epilogue – based upon the script by ROBERT PIROSH

(JESS is riding down the road to the next town. Suddenly, SLIM appears, galloping after him.)

SLIM : Jess! Jess! (Slim comes along side JESS) Whoa. You’re a hard man to catch up with.

JESS: I want to make the next town before dark.

SLIM: We could use an extra hand around here. Wouldn’t pay much, but…

JESS: I like being my own boss.

SLIM: There’s a real future here, Jess. Finest cow country in Wyoming. Wha’d ya say? This could lead to somethin’.

JESS: It sure could. Trouble.

SLIM: Why don’t we take that chance? Come on, we’ll be late for supper.

(SLIM takes off down the road and after a moments hesitation, JESS follows.)

(At the Sherman ranch, ANDY is impatiently watching from the gate to the pasture. He hits the gate with a stick and turns to go to the ranch house. He hears oncoming hooves and whirls around to see SLIM and JESS riding down the road.)

ANDY : Slim! Jess! Woohoo! (Runs towards SLIM and JESS and slaps SLIM’s hand. Turns back and runs towards the ranch house, shouting) Jonesy, they’re back. Both Slim and Jess. Do ya hear me, Jonesy? They’re back! Come on, Jonesy. (Reachs the ranch house kitchen door, shouting) Slim’s back and Jess is with ‘im.

(SLIM and JESS ride into the ranch yard. SLIM dismounts. JESS watches ANDY and then dismounts. ANDY runs back out of the house and to JESS, followed by JONESY.)

ANDY: (Grabs JESS’ arm) : Got ya! (Grabs SLIM’s arm.) Got ya!

JESS: (Looks at SLIM) : All right, deal me in. We’ll play a hand or two and see how it works out.

JONESY: But don’t deal any off the bottom.

All: (Laugh)

(JESS and SLIM unsaddle their horses as JONESY and ANDY go back to the ranch house.)
