Epilogue – based on the script by David Lang

(JESS rides down the road to the ranch and slowly trots up to the Sherman ranch house.)

SLIM: (Comes out of the ranch house front door, wearing an apron) Howdy, stranger.

JESS: Hello, Slim.

SLIM: Just in time for supper.

JESS: (Dismounts) Well, I figured I had it just about timed right.

SLIM: Everything work out alright?

JESS: With Markle?

SLIM: Yeah.

JESS: Yeah. Just fine. He’s free as a bird. Callin’ in the posters on ‘im.

SLIM: Ah, good. (Pats JESS’ left side)

(JESS flinches and grabs his ribs.)

SLIM: What’s the matter? You getting old?

JESS: Ah! No, just kinda worn out from stopping bullets.

SLIM: Did ya get hit in the ribs?

JESS: Where’d you think I got hit? In the head?

SLIM: I don’t know, Jess. Sometimes it’s kinda hard to tell.

(SLIM and JESS laugh.)
