Epilogue – based on the script by Rod Peterson

(SLIM, JESS, and DAISY are standing in the Sherman ranch house front room, in front of the fireplace. Slim’s mother’s picture is on the mantle.)

DAISY: I love that picture of your Mother, Slim. I’m so glad you found it.

JESS: What’d they say at Fort Sanders when you brough Ellis in?

SLIM: That he’d get what’s comin’ to him. He’s been using his army rank to cheat people for a long time.

DAISY: And what about that nice Mr. Courtland?

SLIM: Well, the colonel feels that the War Department will restore his army rank and make a public appology for their treatment of him. And…there just might be a special commendation for a man named Matt Sherman. Maybe even a medal.

DAISY: Oh, that’s wonderful. Aren’t you proud?

(The clatter of pots and pans eminate from the kitchen. JESS, SLIM and DAISY run into the kitchen to find MIKE on the floor, surrounded by pots and pans.)

DAISY: Mike, what on earth are you doing?

SLIM: What are you up to,Tiger? (Lifts Mike up)

JESS: You going on a shivaree or something?

MIKE : Heck no. Slim said he’d take me hunting up to that Summit Pass sometime.

DAISY: Well your not going to take all my pots and pans are you?

MIKE: Not all of them. Just this one. I’ll leave the hunting to Slim.  I’ll be panning for gold dust. Sixty thousand dollars worth.

SLIM: Oh you will, huh? (Places a pot over MIKE’s head.)

(JESS and SLIM pound with wooden spoons on the top of the pot while MIKE yells.)
