In “Trail West to Fury,” Bret and Bart come home to East Bend, Texas to run the the ranch they owned before the Civil War began.

 

Bret is in Texas at the beginning of this episode. According to the premise of “Trail West to Fury,” neither Bret nor Bart have been able to return to Texas since soon after the end of the Civil War, as they are wanted for the murder of two men in East Bend, Texas.
