The Games People Play
Roger Cushman: Tell me, what is “The Scourge of the Poker Tables” [Bart Maverick] doing here in San Francisco? .. If I recall, you’re quite adept at poker.
Bart Maverick: Well, I’ve had my share of luck.
Roger Cushman: (laughs) You’re being modest, Mr. Maverick. More than luck. Well, you’ve reduced poker to a science. I know all of those gentlemen upstairs. My Uncle George is one of them. Banking and industrial tycoons, all of them richer than Croesus. But when it comes to poker, they’re amateurs. A man of your skill would have very little trouble cleaning up.
Bart Maverick: I never expose my hole card, Mr. Cushman, until the play is called.
