Traditional Bacon Strips
Ingredients:
8 ounces bacon
Process:
Preheat an oven to 350°F.
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Place a rack on top of the sheet plan.
Place one layer the bacon on the rack.
Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes. (The actual time will depend upon the thickness of the bacon.) The bacon should be baked to the desired degree of crispness.
Remove the bacon from the oven and place on a heat resistant pad.
Allow to drain for 1 -2 minutes.
Use tongs to remove the bacon from the rack.
Plate and serve.
Spiced Honey Bacon
Ingredients:
8 ounces bacon
2 tablespoons honey
½ teaspoon turmeric
¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper
Process:
Combine the honey, turmeric and black pepper.
Preheat the oven to 350F.
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Place a rack on top of the sheet plan.
Place one layer the bacon on the rack.
Bake in the oven to cook for 20-30 minutes. (The actual time will depend upon the thickness of the bacon.) The bacon should be nearly cooked.
Brush honey mixture over the top of the bacon.
Cook a further 3-5 minutes to caramelize the honey. Be careful no to burn the honey.
Remove the bacon from the oven and place on a heat resistant pad.
Allow to cool slightly.
Use tongs to remove the bacon from the rack.
Plate and serve.
Crispy Crunchy Bacon
Ingredients:
1 pound bacon
2 teaspoons paprika
1 – 1 ½ Tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes (as to taste)
1 Tablespoon cracked black pepper
1 cup packed light brown sugar
Process:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix the paprika, red pepper flakes, black pepper and brown sugar in a bowl.
Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper. Place a rack on top of the sheet plan.
Place one layer of bacon on the rack.
Place a thin layer of the brown sugar mixture on top of the bacon.
Transfer the bacon to the oven and bake for 20-35 minutes (actual time will vary with the thickness of the bacon) or until the brown sugar has melted and the bacon is crisp.
Remove the bacon from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes to allow the coating to harden.
Use tongs to transfer the bacon to a serving platter.
Serve.
Pepper Pot Bacon
Ingredients:
8 ounces bacon
1/2 – 1 Tablespoon cracked black pepper
Process:
Preheat an oven to 350°F.
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Place a rack on top of the sheet pan.
Place one layer the bacon on the rack.
Sprinkle pepper over the bacon
Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes. (The actual time will depend upon the thickness of the bacon. It is suggested that one check it at 20, 25 and 30 minutes.) The bacon should be baked to the desired degree of crispness. .
Remove the bacon from the oven and place on a heat resistant pad.
Allow to drain for 2 minutes.
Remove bacon from the rack with tongs.
Plate.
Serve.
Tappin’ Maple Syrup Bacon
Ingredients:
1 pound bacon
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
6 Two inch long thyme sprigs
Process:
Preheat oven to 350°F
Combine maple syrup and thyme in a small saucepan.
Bring mixture to a simmer; simmer for two minutes.
Strain to remove the thyme (leaves and sprigs).
Add cracked pepper to the infused maple syrup.
Preheat an oven to 350°F.
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Place a rack on top of the sheet plan.
Place one layer the bacon on the rack.
Bake in the oven to cook for 20-30 minutes. (The actual time will depend upon the thickness of the bacon.) The bacon should be nearly cooked.
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
When hot, place the bacon in a skillet.
Pour the reserved maple syrup infusion over the bacon. Be certain that all of the bacon is coated with the syrup.
Bring the syrup to a simmer.
Place the skillet in the oven and bake for four to five minutes, depending on the thickness of the bacon.
Remove the pan from the oven.
Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Use tongs to remove the bacon from the skillet.
Plate and artfully place any of the maple syrup infusion over the bacon.
Serve.
Hot Honey Pot Bacon
Ingredients:
8 ounces regular cut bacon
2 tablespoons honey
1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes, as to taste
Process:
Combine the honey and hot red pepper flakes. Allow to rest on the counter overnight.
Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper. Place a rack on top of the sheet plan.
Place one layer of bacon on the rack.
Preheat an oven to 350°F.
Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes. (The actual time will depend upon the thickness of the bacon.) The bacon should be nearly cooked.
