Epilogue – based on the script “Dragon at the Door” by Rod Peterson

(JESS HARPER, SLIM SHERMAN, TOMOMI and the TAJIMA FAMILY are loading the Tajima’s wagon in preparation for its departure from the Sherman ranch yard.)

HARU: (Sighs) Haru did not mean to mislead you. (Sighs) Did not know what kiss meant.

JESS HARPER: You seemed to know how to do it.

HARU: Haru knew how, but not why.

JESS HARPER: That’s alright. Haru. I don’t think I’ll ever forget you though.

TOMOMI: Haru, we go.

JESS HARPER: Tomomi is sure a lucky guy.

HARU: When he save Haru’s life, I knew that I love him. (Moves to back of wagon)

JESS HARPER: (Carries a suitcase to the wagon) Goodbye, Haru.

HARU: Goodbye, Jess-san. (Takes the suitcase and enters the wagon. JESS closes the door behind HARU and then walks to the front of the wagon. KAMI and TOMOMI are on the wagon seat.)

KAMI: Words cannot express our sincere thanks for all you have done. Ah, please accept this small token of our appreciation. (Offers a shamisen to SLIM)

SLIM SHERMAN: Oh, you don’t owe us anything.

JESS HARPER: Wait a minute Slim. It’s a souvenir. I mean maybe Mike’d like to have it.

MIKE WILLIAMS: Yeah! Sure!

SLIM SHERMAN: Thank ya’.

MIKE WILLIAMS: Gee, thanks.

SLIM SHERMAN: Don’t wait ’til you break another axle to come see us, now.

KAMI: Trouble not very enjoyable, but often makes new friends. (Looks at TOMOMI) Ikuzo.

TOMOMI: Oy!

(The wagon leaves the ranch yard. HARU, YUKI, and KIKU wave from the windows.)

SLIM SHERMAN: Well, there goes the Great Tajima.

JESS HARPER: And his daughters.
