Epilogue – based on the teleplay “Killer Without Cause” by Donn Mullally & Lee Erwin and story by John C. Champion
(SLIM SHERMAN and JESS HARPER are pounding in a fence post at the corral. GENERAL ROBERTS rides up.)
SLIM SHERMAN: Ah! Morning, General. Coffee in the house if you want some.
GENERAL ROBERTS: Sorry, but I really haven’t got time. I just got word that the Sioux are ready to sign that treaty. I thought you two would like to know.
JESS HARPER: Oh, It’s about time some good news showed up around here. I’s beginnin’ to wonder.
SLIM SHERMAN: There’s not going to be any trouble ’bout what the Sioux did to Old Man Vail?
GENERAL ROBERTS: Not while I’m around. Besides there isn’t much proof that they did anything at all.
JESS HARPER: (Smiles)
GENERAL ROBERTS: I’ll see ya. (General Roberts rides off.)
SLIM SHERMAN: (Looks over at JESS HARPER): Jess?
JESS HARPER: Yeah?
SLIM SHERMAN: D’ya think I’m goin’ to hold this thing all day?
JESS HARPER: Oh…yeah. (Begins pounding away at the pole again)
