Epilogue – based on the script “Killers’ Odds” by Jerry Adelman
(FRED POWERS and SUE drive a Conestoga wagon into the Sherman ranch yard. JESS HARPER walks towards the wagon from the barn area. SLIM and MORT CORY step down from the ranch house porch to approach the wagon.)
SLIM: Sue. Fred. On your way, huh?
SUE: We just stopped here to say goodbye.
FRED POWERS: And thanks. Thanks again.
JESS HARPER: From what I hear you’re both gonna like it in California.
SUE: I’m sure we will.
FRED POWERS: Sheriff, I don’t suppose you’ve heard anything yet, have you?
MORT CORY: Oh you don’t, huh. Why do you think I’m waiting out here? You don’t have to worry about hired guns on your trail any more.
FRED POWERS: Ya sure?
MORT CORY: Yep. The man doing the hiring got himself locked up good and tight. I got a telegram sayin’ so early this morning.
FRED POWERS: (Grinning) Sheriff, Slim, Jess… I don’t know what to say.
JESS HARPER: He looks much better with a smile on his face, don’t he.
SLIM SHERMAN: Yeah, most people do. Good luck.
SUE: I’m so grateful to all of you. Well. goodbye.
FRED POWERS: So long.
(FRED POWERS drives off. MORT CORY, SLIM SHERMAN, and JESS HARPER wave goodbye.)
