Epilogue – based on the script “Run of the Hunted” by Donn Mullally & Lee Erwin

(SLIM SHERMAN is greasing the axle of a buckboard in the Sherman ranch yard. CORY LAKE and NATANA ride into the ranch yard.)

CORY LAKE: Hi, Slim.

SLIM SHERMAN: Welcome back. How’d everything go?

CORY LAKE: Well, I got married. This is my wife, Natana, the chief’s daughter.

SLIM SHERMAN: (Shakes CORY LAKE’s hand) Well, congratulations. (Addresses NATANA) And the best of luck to you, too.

(NATANA looks at SLIM SHERMAN with an expression of puzzlement.)

CORY LAKE: She doesn’t speak English yet, Slim. One of the things I gotta teach her.

SLIM SHERMAN: Real pretty.

CORY LAKE: Yeah, she sure is. (Pause) What’s been happenin’ around here, since I been away?

SLIM SHERMAN: Oh, nothing much. Oh, you might be glad to know that the law finally caught up with that fake doctor, Colon. He and his muscle man are in jail.

CORY LAKE: That’s a good place for ’em, Slim.

SLIM SHERMAN: Hey, when’s the rest of the tribe comin’ in?

CORY LAKE: Well, they’re not.

SLIM SHERMAN: Why not?

CORY LAKE: The chief and his council turned it down. They said the easy life on a ranch would make fat old men out of their braves in no time.

SLIM SHERMAN: Fat old men?

CORYLAKE: Yeah, like you and me.

(SLIM SHERMAN pats his stomach and looks down. Then he looks up and smiles. CORY LAKE and NATANA ride away. SLIM SHERMAN pats his stomach again, smiles and gets back to work.)
