Epilogue – based on “The Last Battleground,” a script by Rod Peterson
(SLIM SHERMAN, JESS HARPER, and DAISY COOPER are standing in the Sherman ranch house front room, in front of the fireplace. Slim’s mother’s picture is on the mantle.)
DAISY COOPER: I love that picture of your Mother, Slim. I’m so glad you found it.
JESS HARPER: What’d they say at Fort Sanders when you brough Ellis in?
SLIM SHERMAN: That he’d get what’s comin’ to him. He’s been using his army rank to cheat people for a long time.
DAISY COOPER: And what about that nice Mr. Courtland?
SLIM SHERMAN: Well, the colonel feels that the War Department will restore his army rank and make a public appology for their treatment of him. And…there just might be a special commendation for a man named Matt Sherman. Maybe even a medal.
DAISY COOPER: Oh, that’s wonderful. Aren’t you proud?
(The clatter of pots and pans eminate from the kitchen. JESS HARPER, SLIM SHERMAN and DAISY COOPER run into the kitchen to find MIKE WILLIAMS on the floor, surrounded by pots and pans.)
DAISY COOPER: Mike, what on earth are you doing?
SLIM SHERMAN: What are you up to,Tiger? (Lifts MIKE WILLIAMS up)
JESS HARPER: You going on a shivaree or something?
MIKE SHERMAN: Heck no. Slim said he’d take me hunting up to that Summit Pass sometime.
DAISY COOPER: Well you’re not going to take all my pots and pans are you?
MIKE WILLIAMS: Not all of them. Just this one. I’ll leave the hunting to Slim. I’ll be panning for gold dust. Sixty thousand dollars worth.
SLIM SHERMAN: Oh you will, huh? (Places a pot over MIKE WILLIAM’s head.)
(JESS HARPER and SLIM SHERMAN pound with wooden spoons on the top of the pot while MIKE WILLIAMS yells.)
