Epilogue – based on “The Passing of Kuba Smith,” a script by David Lang
(SLIM SHERMAN rides into the Sherman ranch yard and ties up his horse at the porch rail. JESS HARPER is at the forge by the barn.)
JESS HARPER: Hi, Slim! (Puts down the tools, takes off his apron and picks up his gunbelt. Strides over to the ranch house.) Get ‘im?
SLIM SHERMAN: Yeah, we got him.
JESS HARPER: Bring ‘im in?
SLIM SHERMAN: He’s dead.
JESS HARPER: Well, then we get to keep the two thousand.
SLIM SHERMAN: No, I gave it away.
JESS HARPER: You what?
SLIM SHERMAN: Come on inside, Jess, and I’ll tell you all about it.
JESS HARPER: Well, it better be a good story for two thousand dollars.
SLIM SHERMAN: It is.
(SLIM SHERMAN and JESS HARPER enter the ranch house.)
