(NANCY TILFORD, MIKE WILLIMS and DAISY COOPER are loading HOBEY CARSON’S buckboard.)
NANCY TILFORD: Well, I sure do appreciate you lettin’ us stay on here while Hobey’s shoulder healed some.
DAISY COOPER: Aw, I loved having you. And thank you so much for teaching me how to make that mountainberry jam.
NANCY TILFORD: Well, you’re welcome. Well, I guess that’s about everything. Now, where’d that Hobey go to?
MIKE WILLIAMS: Well, he’s inside playin’ cards with Slim and Jess.
NANCY TILFORD: Playin’ cards? (Goes back into the kitchen door of the ranch house. SLIM SHERMAN, JESS HARPER and HOBEY CARSON are playing cards at the kitchen table. NANCY TILFORD takes HOBEY CARSON by the ear, dragging him out the door.)
HOBEY CARSON: Ow! Nance! Ow! Nance! Stop that! Come on, we weren’t playin’ for keeps. Honest.
JESS HARPER: (Laughs): An they ain’t even married yet.
SLIM SHERMAN: I know. Hey, that’s too bad. He had a good hand, too.
