Epilogue – based on “The Track of the Jackal,” a teleplay by Paul Savage and story by Dan Ullman

(SUMNER, SARAH, and CHAD CAMPBELL, JESS HARPER and SLIM SHERMAN are standing together in the Campbell’s ranch yard.)

SLIM SHERMAN: Well, we oughta be back in a week or so.

SUMNER CAMPBELL: There’ll be a hearing and then it’s all over.

CHAD CAMPBELL: The MacIntire’s can’t make trouble in Rawlins?

JESS HARPER: There won’t be any trouble, Chad.

CHAD CAMPBELL: But Pa killed his son. What’s changed?

SLIM SHERMAN: Well, MacIntire’s changed…. and his hold on Rawlins.

JESS HARPER: Yeah, and a trio of US marshalls are movin’ in to see it stays that way.

SLIM SHERMAN: Fact is, there’s only one problem left.

SUMNER CAMPBELL: What’s that?

SLIM SHERMAN: Getting Jess to hand over his badge. He’s turned into such a tough character, I think the sheriff’s ’bout half afraid to ask him for it.

(JESS SHERMAN unpins the badge from his vest as SUMNER CAMPBELL, SLIM SHERMAN and JESS HARPER walk off towards the horses.)
