(SLIM SHERMAN is standing next to the fireplace in the Sherman ranch house front room.) He adds a log to the fire. LEN and PETE DIXON are seated in front of the fire. JESS HARPER comes in the front door,)
SLIM SHERMAN: Hi, Jess
LEN DIXON: Howdy, Jess.
JESS HARPER: (Shuts the door) Well, the reward for the return of the money’s gonna be here in about a week. Sheriff’s gonna bring it out.
SLIM SHERMAN: (Looks at LEN and PETE DIXON) Well, that means your share is going to be $2000.
LEN DIXON: No.
SLIM SHERMAN: What are you gonna do with it?
LEN DIXON: Well sir, I, ah, been thinking and if Pete don’t mind terrible, I – I’m going to turn my share over to you, Slim. and have you watch on it. On account of I just ain’t got sense enough on take care of my own money.
PETE DIXON: Me neither.
JESS HARPER: Next time I go to town I better see the doc about my ears. Beginin’ to hear things I don’t believe.
PETE DIXON: Oh no you ain’t, Jess. Me and my brother, Len here, we used to be a scardt that we was gonna turn out like you and Slim. But now we’re kinda scardt we won’t.
